Engineering Technologist (Development)

We are looking for a motivated professional to support the operations of the Development Engineering division.

Under the direction of the Manager of Development Engineering, this position will review and provide comments on engineering submissions related to various development applications and reviews.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct reviews on lot grading, Committee of Adjustment Applications, Additional Connection Applications and Site Alteration and Fill Applications.
  • Provide comments and feedback on development applications.
  • Review and provide input into changes to the Town’s Design Criteria Manual in consultation with Town staff and other service areas.
  • Maintains accurate records and reports for the review activities undertaken.
  • Assists in the creation of recommendations for development approvals.

Key Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must possess or be eligible for CET designation.

  • Minimum of three years’ experience, preferably in municipal servicing and engineering with

  • Working knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards Specifications; Ontario Provincial Standard Drawings; Ministry of Transportation Design Manuals/Construction Manual; Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks Design Manuals; Ontario Traffic Manual and the OHSA.

  • Knowledge of construction practices and methods, including the ability to interpret engineering drawings and documents.

  • Excellent interpersonal, project/time/records management, organizational, analytical, research, communication, presentation, and problem solving skills.

  • Proficiency with information technology, and possess a valid class G driver’s license in good standing with a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business. In addition, a criminal record check will be required from the successful candidate.

  • A valid Ontario class G driver’s license in good standing.

  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check upon hire.

The position offers a salary range of $79,193 to $96,260 (2025 rates) based on a 35 hour work week, plus a competitive benefit package and the option for flexible work arrangements.

Bradford West Gwillimbury is a town in south-central Ontario, in the County of Simcoe in the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area on the Holland River. West Gwillimbury takes its name from the family of Elizabeth Simcoe, née Gwillim. The former Town of Bradford was amalgamated with portions of the former Townships of West Gwillimbury and Tecumseth to become the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury on January 1, 1991.
