City of Langford FireSmart Coordinator

The FireSmart Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for all FireSmart initiatives, including public education, community engagement, and wildfire risk mitigation. Responsibilities include planning and evaluating program activities, managing budgets and grants, and coordinating home assessments. As the FireSmart Coordinator, you will also collaborate with regional and provincial partners, oversee training and certification for FireSmart personnel, and support the development of the Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, including confidently delivering professional and engaging presentations to diverse audiences.
Qualifications for this position include:

Completion of a certificate in a relevant program at a recognized post-secondary institution and five (5) years’ experience in program delivery, program management and emergency management principles (or an equivalent combination of education an experience)

Wildfire Risk Reduction Course
-
FireSmart 101 Certification
-
Wildfire Mitigation Specialist and Local FireSmart Representative Designations are an asset
-
NPFA 1035 Public Education Level 1 is an asset
-
Knowledge of Community Wildfire Protection Plan, Community Wildfire Resiliency Plans, and FireSmart principles and practices
-
Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Police Information check
The salary range for this regular full-time position is $43.95 to $51.71 per hour (2025 rates), plus an excellent benefits package including one of Canada’s top pension plans. Please refer to the job description attached for more information and a detailed position description.
