Description
Bus Drivers are in a highly visible role and works in a high-functioning environment providing safe, reliable, dependable, and efficient transportation of team members and guests to and from the resort daily. Bus Drivers operate within the towns of Banff and Canmore, are comfortable with highway driving, and navigating congested areas. Drivers must adhere punctually to the bus schedules. Bus Drivers report to the Transportation Supervisor (or designate) and liaises with third-party transportation operators, and the base area departments at the Resort.
Job Functions
Primary Responsibilities of this role are:
- Operating and maintaining passenger busses in a clean, and professional manner.
- Providing strong customer service, interacting directly with guests and staff members, anticipating needs, assisting with equipment when required, and being knowledgeable about resort operations and services.
Administrative and Maintenance Responsibilities
- Timely and accurate documentation e.g., logbooks, ridership/equipment statistics, maintenance, training.
- Communicating any unusual operating conditions e.g., mechanical, operational, environmental
- Understanding and adhering to company initiatives, polices, procedures, provincial, manufacturer requirements, relative legislation e.g., OHS, Traffic Safety Act, Canada National Parks Act, municipal regulations.
- Timely and accurate near miss, incident and deficiencies reporting to appropriate departments/personnel.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
Experience/Requirements
- Be at least 21, possess a valid AB Class 2 driver’s license with Q endorsement, clear driver’s abstract (3 years minimum history) and suitable driving references.
- Demonstrated experience driving in winter conditions.
- Willing/able to perform all duties or departmental tasks e.g., housekeeping
- Positive, mature, and friendly attitude along with being neat, alert, punctual and dependable
- Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours
- Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions (appropriate footwear, layers, gloves, etc.)
- Able to work effectively under pressure and maintain patience.
- Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally, and in a confidential capacity.
- Maintain professional conduct when acting as a company representative on or off duty, and online.
- Effectively provide support, and assistance to coworkers.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings and training.
Additional Considerations
- Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
- This position requires the ability to drive for long periods of time, lifting (up to 15kg), Pushing/pulling (up to 20 kg), kneeling and crouching.
- This role operates commercial vehicles and works outside typical hours.
- This role works around moving vehicles and equipment.
- Required uniform pieces (liner, jacket, pants, toque) are provided.
- This role has exposure to industrial chemicals e.g., solvents, oils, grease, washer/brake fluids, cleaning/disinfecting agents.
