We have an exciting opening for a HVAC Product Development Technician . Working under the guidance of the R&D Supervisor, the HVAC Product Development Technician will provide technical support for product development.

Responsibilities:

·        Product / equipment testing and reporting

·        Product design improvements for performance and cost reductions

·        Provides engineering / sales support.

·        Ongoing learning of new technology and tools related to HVAC industry

·        Follow a “Safety First” Philosophy

·        Other duties as assigned

General activities:

·        Manage activity of agreed upon schedule with R&D Supervisor

·        Works in plant on equipment manufacturing as directed by R&D Supervisor

·        Provides reports accurately and timely as directed by R&D Supervisor

·        Identifies product improvement and new product concepts

·        Identifies equipment cost reduction

·        Communicate to customers (as authorized), co-workers and supervisors to ensure customers’ and company’s needs are met

·        Performs equipment service (internal and in the field) diagnostics, troubleshoot and repair as needed

·        Able to lift 25-50lbs

·        80%-90% of work is hands-on, 10-20% of work is administrative.

·        Valid international travel documents are required

·        Local and International travel may be required as per the business need.

Product Development

·        Maintain R&D Area / Equipment neat, clean, and safe to operate

·        Set up equipment for testing

·        Build assemblies and equipment

·        Test parameters of new products, existing components and equipment, and new components

·        Collect test data, completes thorough analytical review, compile subsequent report

·        Makes recommendations based on test results

·        Keep track of measuring tools’ calibration log and coordinate with third-party if updated calibration is required

Engineering / Sales Support

·        Calculates performance requirements (eg. ECM, esp., DX/refrigerant)

·        Makes recommendations for component & unit selection

·        Audits when applicable plans, specs, quotes, submittals, engineering files

·        Maintains “ to do “ activity log and sets priorities

·        Maintains activity log details and assign time required for day-to-day functions

·        Performs other duties as required by R&D Supervisor.

Key Metrics

·        Technically accurate design and set up tests

·        Accurate and timely reports on tests

·        Accurate and timely technical feedback and support to Sales

·        Customer and Sales satisfaction

·        New and improved design recommendations

·        Equipment cost reduction recommendations

Qualifications:

·        Mechanical Engineer and/or Relevant Technical diploma with a minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience in HVAC technology

·        Strong Skills in:

o  Technical and analytical

o  Select and use a variety of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning tools and equipment safely and properly.

o  Interpret Controls/ electrical, mechanical, and piping drawings.

o  Install, service, and troubleshoot heating, refrigeration, air conditioning systems, and associated components.

o  Computer proficiency (typing a must)

o  English communication (written & verbal)

o  Time management

o  DDC software

o  Soldering/brazing

o  Able to learn, perform tasks with minimal guidance and supervision

o  Develop strategies for ongoing personal and professional development, that will lead to enhanced work performance and career opportunities, and keep pace with industry changes
