Responsible to the Manager, Recruitment & Training Efficiencies, The Fleet Efficiency Manager (FEM) is responsible for managing the utilization of the Instructors and Evaluators responsible for all pilot training events.

In collaboration with the Training Manager and Fleet Management, this position will plan the manpower requirements and schedule the required training events along with the required resources. The incumbent will also ensure that all temporary supervisors involved in training achieve and maintain their required qualifications as an Instructor or Evaluator.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Check Pilot (CP) vacation and productivity.
  • Complete CP schedule template including vacation and days off requests.
  • Complete Crew Scheduling monthly planning forms and liaise with Crew Scheduling with regards to all fleet training activities.
  • Develop and maintain a 12- month forecast for all training events, including manpower and resource requirements.
  • Advise Chief Pilot on current and future CP requirements.
  • Collaborate with Chief Pilot & Training Manager on all training/checking issues including manpower planning and resource management.
  • Build and maintain CP monthly schedules; manage changes as required.
  • Select appropriate pairings to efficiently manage Online Evaluation (OE) requirements; Pair up double OEs (If applicable).
  • Shorten all training footprints with effective and timely scheduling of candidates.
  • Manage flight time for Initial Online Evaluations (IOE) to minimize overrun of IOE footprints.
  • Manage training status of students on course; providing regular updates to various stakeholders.
  • Plan move-ups accordingly to balance manpower requirements; review future months to assure OE candidates will be available for OE (i.e. considering vacation).
  • Ensure all OE events are being covered in month.
  • Provide vacation coverage for other FEMs; Standardized process for all fleet types.
  • Assign Qualifying Course (QC) candidates to Qualifying Line Operational Evaluation (QLOE) (if applicable).
  • Assign QC candidates to IOE schedule and track progress (if applicable).

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (e.g. Aviation Management, Business Administration etc.) or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a similar position.
  • Good decision-making ability in high pressure situations without close supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Previous airline operational and/or scheduling experience, an asset.
  • Strong computer skills; must be proficient with the MS office suite, Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.
  • Strong ability to maintain & analyze data including composing reports and tables.
  • Strong ability to identify trends and issues as well as to develop and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
