Job Title: Data/Information Architect - Health Data Standards
Duration: 6-month contract
Our client is seeking a seasoned Data/Information Architect with deep expertise in health data standards. This role will contribute to building a pan-Canadian Common Semantic Data Model to support digital health interoperability across Canada.
Principal tasks and responsibilities include:

Design and evolve a comprehensive Common Semantic Data Model (conceptual and logical) covering hundreds of data elements to support pan-Canadian health information interoperability.

Ensure clarity, consistency, and semantic accuracy in the model, aligning with real-world healthcare concepts, roles, workflows, and standardized terminologies.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including domain experts, terminology specialists, and standards bodies to align on data architecture.

Participate in data governance, versioning, and review processes related to evolving the model and related artifacts.

Assess and integrate industry-standard frameworks and models (e.g., FHIR, HL7 RIM, SNOMED CT, LOINC, OMOP, ISO-13940, ISO-11179).

Contribute to metadata modelling and the development of architectural components like glossaries, context models, data element definitions, and value sets.

Ensure deliverables address data consistency, interoperability, risk, and data lifecycle considerations.

Document and present architecture deliverables clearly to multidisciplinary audiences.

Support planning efforts for long-term architecture development and enhancements.

Qualifications and pre-requisites:

Extensive experience designing conceptual and logical data models in healthcare or similarly complex environments.

Deep understanding of health data standards, vocabularies, and interoperability frameworks.

Strong analytical, abstract thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Proven ability to collaborate across jurisdictions and with multiple stakeholder groups.

Experience with metadata standards and enterprise data architecture practices.

Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Familiarity with Canadian healthcare context and provincial/territorial system variations is a strong asset.

Relevant certifications or demonstrated experience with health informatics and standards (e.g., HL7, ISO, SNOMED, FHIR) preferred.
