About the role
Your New Employer
Our client is a Toronto-based real estate investment and development firm redefining how rental communities are designed, built, and experienced. They specialize in purpose-built, lifestyle-focused residences that blend architectural quality with thoughtful amenities and elevated service. Backed by institutional capital and driven by long-term value creation, the company is growing its multi-family platform across key urban markets. With a vertically integrated model and a mission grounded in impact and inclusion, they are well-positioned to lead the next evolution of rental housing in Canada. As the business expands, they’re strengthening their fund operations function and are seeking a Manager of Fund Accounting to play a central role in investor reporting, fund performance tracking, and team leadership.
Your New Role
As the Manager, Fund Accounting, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of several commingled funds and separate accounts within the private equity real estate portfolio. You’ll manage capital calls, fund distributions, and treasury operations, while serving as a key liaison between internal investment teams, corporate reporting, and external stakeholders. A critical part of your remit will involve reviewing quarterly working papers and financial statements to ensure that all information is complete, accurate, and aligned across internal and investor-facing reporting. You’ll mentor junior fund accountants, coordinate compliance deliverables, support performance summaries, and help oversee the transition of new entities and projects into the fund structure. While the role requires technical oversight, it also demands a leader who can enhance processes, coach others, and ensure deadlines and data integrity across various internal functions, including treasury, investor relations, and compliance.
What Sets You Apart
You’re a CPA with 5–8 years of progressive experience in fund accounting, ideally within real estate, private equity, or financial services. You have a strong grasp of fund operations, including capital calls, IRR/ROI tracking, and investor performance reporting, and you’re confident working across treasury, audit, and reporting teams. Whether you’ve recently stepped into a formal manager role or are a seasoned senior fund accountant who has taken ownership of workflows and team mentorship, you’re ready to lead. You bring a professional, approachable tone to your work and are energized by the opportunity to help a growing team succeed. You’re confident in Excel, fluent in fund structures, and proactive in identifying process inefficiencies before they escalate. Above all, you bring calm, accountability, and a growth mindset, both for yourself and those around you.
What You Can Expect
You’ll work in a vibrant downtown Toronto office, within a culture defined by active mentorship, low turnover, and high cross-functional engagement. In your first 30 days, you’ll be welcomed into a high-performing but humble team, bringing a fresh perspective, strong work ethic, and curiosity to learn. By 60 days, you’ll be proposing improvements to existing workflows and identifying opportunities to add value. By 90 days, you’ll be independently driving forward initiatives and contributing as a key leader across multiple functions. You may start by overseeing two junior accountants, with long-term responsibility for a five-person team including two senior fund accountants. This role offers a clear path to Senior Manager, exposure to executive leadership, and the chance to influence the NOI and overall financial health of a purpose-built real estate portfolio. The company offers competitive compensation, a hybrid work environment, substantial annual bonuses, four weeks of vacation, and opportunities to grow as part of a fast-scaling, community-focused business.
