The Ministry of Agriculture’s Communications Branch requires an experienced, highly-skilled and motivated multimedia communications specialist to lead the Ministry's marketing presence at trade shows and print, photography and video procurement. The specialist will have strong graphic design skills and will develop a range of print and online educational and promotional materials. You will also develop communications strategies for specific corporate and program initiatives. You will use print and digital channels to help us promote Saskatchewan agriculture to the general public and promote ministry programs and services to producers and agribusiness.
The successful candidate will play a key role managing our print and digital educational projects targeted to producers, supporting the diverse needs and media consumption habits of producers. You will coordinate our presence in major trade shows such as Agribition. You will have strong Adobe InDesign skills to develop creative ways to engage producers in digital and print content. You’ll be proactive, organized, diplomatic and flexible in order to respond quickly and positively in a demanding work environment. Video and photography experience is also an asset.
We’re looking for someone with the ability to develop, implement and evaluate marketing/communications strategies and plans that support the ministry's strategic goals; You will research, create and edit a variety of communications materials, including publications, fact sheets, and infographics for digital projects. You will be responsible for managing and procuring print, photography and design projects.
You will have knowledge of:
- strategic marketing/communications planning;
- marketing/communications related software including Adobe InDesign;
- video editing programs and/or Photoshop is considered an asset;
- knowledge of photography and video is considered an asset;
- trade show organization; and
- print and photography procurement.
You will have the demonstrated ability to:
- anticipate, identify and assess producer and agribusiness trends and needs and develop recommendations and strategies on how to develop communication materials to meet their educational needs;
- through print and digital content, communicate information to a variety of audiences to build support, educate and promote understanding of the ministry and its programs and services;
- research and evaluate relevant information and material to produce communications material that supports ministry programs, policies and strategic direction;
- work independently and participate as a contributing member of a team to ensure goals and objectives are met;
- organize and prioritize a high volume of projects with competing deadlines to consistently produce high-quality work;
- create written, verbal and visual communication materials using a variety of hardware and software applications such as the Adobe design suite, Word, and other design and layout and graphics programs; and
- develop and maintain positive and consultative working relationships with ministry staff, clients and stakeholders.
Typically, the knowledge for this position would be obtained through a degree or diploma in Journalism, Marketing, Digital Communications, Multi-media, or Communications (or a related area), and/or relevant experience. Experience and/or knowledge of the agricultural industry would also be an asset.
