This position is based out of the Lacombe Central Office, however the location if flexible, within Alberta, dependent on the successful applicant. The successful application will be required to be in the Lacombe Central Office as needed. However, periodically the position may be asked to work in other AFSC branches. Travel in these circumstances will be reimbursed according to AFSC’s Corporate Expenses Policy.

As a strategic partner to our leaders, you’ll do more than provide HR advice – you’ll help build a resilient, values-driven culture and prepare our workforce for what’s ahead. In this high-impact role, you will:

  • Advise leaders and influence strategic people decisions across the organization
  • Deliver day to day HR generalist support while leading key talent management initiatives and programs
  • Leverage data and research to inform innovative, forward-looking HR strategies
  • Support workforce readiness by nurturing careers and enhancing engagement

Reporting to the Manager, People and Culture, you’ll bring HR expertise to all levels of the organization. Key focus areas include:

  • Strategic workforce planning
  • Talent, succession and performance management
  • Organizational design and effectiveness
  • HR policy and procedure development
  • Data-informed HR analysis and recommendations

Experience in compensation, including pay equity reviews, market analysis, and job evaluation, is considered an asset.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Relationship Management – building effective working relationships to provide meaningful workforce insights
  • Information and Business Advice – provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures
  • Employee Relations – provide advice and guidance to leaders in developing, documenting, and communicating solutions for individual employee relations cases
  • Policy Development and Implementation – Enhance policies and focus on building a more agile and efficient operation
  • HR Frameworks and Tools – Partner with leaders to determine evolving workforce needs and contribute to the creation or HR frameworks, tools and people strategies
  • HR Data and Analytics – Identify key trends and contribute to the creation of HR insights and strategies that enhance AFSC’s ability to deliver on its strategic objectives
  • HR Information Systems – Support the administration of HR and talent management strategies within the HRIS application (Dayforce) and provide support to team members in utilizing the system

Who You Are

  • A strong Human Resources Generalist with strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures and best practices
  • A creative problem solver who develops practical, people-centered solutions
  • A strategic thinker with a talent for simplifying complexity, optimizing processes, and making informed, timely recommendations that keep AFSC moving forward, and create a climate where team members are motivated to do their best
  • A strong communicator and team player who builds trust and motivates others

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources or a related field
  • Five (5) years related human resources experience
  • Human resources certification (CPHR) is considered an asset
  • Candidates may be considered based on a combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience in data literacy, project management, change management, policy and program development is considered an asset
