About the Organization

The Schwartz Reisman Canada Israel Exchange was created in 2008 at the University of Manitoba as a transformational learning experience to expose university students to Israel’s history, culture and people. Since then, the program has expanded to several universities in Canada, including Dalhousie (since 2015). Since its start in 2008, it has had more than 1,000 participants from Canadian and Israeli universities. The program is funded by The Gerald Schwartz & Heather Reisman Foundation.

Job Summary

Reporting to the National Program Director, the Program Coordinator will provide support managing the day-to-day operations of the Schwartz Reisman Canada Israel Exchange at Dalhousie University in partnership with Tel Aviv University and aiding in the integration of the Program with other additional participating Canadian and Israeli Universities. The Program Coordinator will also provide support to the Alumni Association of the program by helping to organize alumni events and communicate with members of the Alumni Association leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Schwartz Reisman Canada Israel Exchange including acting as point-of-contact, facilitating program planning, recruitment and selection of students, and accounting and reimbursement of expenses.

  • Act as a liaison with the Foundation and the people leading the program at other Canadian and Israeli Universities in the absence of the National Program Director.

  • Schedule appointments, arrange meetings, and take notes at meetings.

  • Prepare, edit and file materials such as contracts, agreements, itineraries and student application documents.

  • Provide logistical support for the program, including booking travel, accommodations, transportation, meetings and site visits.

  • Provide support in managing the SRF Alumni Association, including arranging, participating in and taking note for meetings with the association’s leadership team and SRF Alumni Ambassadors, planning and executing alumni events, implementing strategic initiatives, maintaining an updated database of contact information, and maintaining various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).

Note

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

National and International travel may be required to join the National Program Director on trips with students within Canada and to Israel. (Occasional, 2-4 times per year).

Occasional evening, weekend or holiday work may be required to meet operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in office or secretarial program with at least 3 years of work experience in a related position (or equivalent combination of training and experience).

  • Experience using social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams etc.).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills as well as strong attention to detail.
