About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Assistant Manager and/or delegate, the Seamstress is responsible for repairs to linen, making specialty items such as drapes, chair covers, etc., stamping logos on materials, disregard old linen and replace with new linen. The Seamstress is also responsible for the maintenance of a clean, safe and functional environment. The incumbent may have to travel to other sites within the Zone area.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Minimum Grade 12
- 1-year previous sewing experience in an industrial or institutional setting or formal sewing training required
- Demonstrated proficiency working with sewing machines
- Ability to repair and create linens and specialty items, including creating and following patterns
- Knowledge of the various types and qualities of fabrics associated with hospital needs is an asset
- Good reading and writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated planning, organizational, prioritization and time management skills
- Demonstrated initiative; self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to use good judgment in making decisions
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels of staff and patients
- Ability to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to patients, employees and the business of the organization
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position including lifting and standing, for long periods of time
- Competencies in other languages, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent Part-time position; 37.5 hours biweekly
Compensation and Benefits
$20.00 - $20.75 Hourly
