What project we have for you
Our client is a global leader in innovative health solutions, focused on delivering cutting-edge treatments and consumer wellness products. This project supports the client’s digital transformation efforts by architecting and developing scalable, cloud-native data platforms and applications. The work is part of a broader initiative to modernize healthcare delivery through real-time data integration, AI readiness, and secure, high-performance backend systems built on AWS.
Project Scope
The selected engineer will lead the design, development, and deployment of backend microservices and data pipelines, enabling large-scale consumer-facing platforms and clinical data applications. The tech stack includes AWS Lambda, Python, DynamoDB, Glue, Airflow, and event-driven architectures. Responsibilities span hands-on development, performance optimization, and cloud automation via Terraform and CI/CD pipelines. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and a commitment to agile practices are critical for success in this role.
What you will do
- Own and deliver software architecture, diagrams, design documents
- Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation and roll out applications with cross-functional impact
- Own the continuous improvement and fine-tuning of API and data pipeline performance, scalability, and security
- Independently design, code, and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes.
- Creates tests and contributes to the development of CI/CD pipelines
- Participate in several cross-functional roles on small, highly productive Agile scrum team
- Proficient in agile development methodologies
- Expected to deliver consistently with little supervision
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications and data pipelines
- Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
- Establish long term and evolving bug fixing solutions, improving application and data pipeline performance
- Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines using AWS Glue, Apache Airflow, and other relevant AWS services.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain ETL processes for various data sources.
- Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data integrity.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate data solutions.
What you need for this
- 4-year degree preferred; relevant experience will be considered
- 10+ years of professional software development experience
- 5+ Years of leading engineering or R&D teams focused on building Cloud-native applications and data solutions
- 5+ years of Back-end experience: Python, JSON, REST, Microservices, DynamoDB, NoSQL
- 4+ years of AWS Lambda or any cloud functions technology is a must
- Expert level experience in building cloud services. You have experience developing scalable, high-performance, and operable cloud services.
- Expert level experience developing backend applications and data processing solutions using Python or NodeJS.
- Demonstrated expertise managing complex integration solutions, such as APIs, and data integration layers (Batch & Real-Time).
- Proven ability to define and implement effective software development methodologies
- Experience developing large-scale consumer-facing micro-services solutions is highly recommended
- Experience working with AWS services like API Gateway, EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS, SNS, Cognito, Glue, and Airflow (MWAA)
- Experience with automating complex services on AWS using Terraform, Serverless, or another infrastructure/application framework as part of a CI/CD pipeline strategy
- Strong preference for someone with experience creating event-driven architectures
- Proficiency in Python and PySpark for data manipulation and transformation.
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
- AWS Certified Solution Architect – Associate or higher
Bonus Qualifications/Experience
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform
- Gitlab CI/CD with focus on CI/CD for AWS serverless deployments
- Experience with other data orchestration tools.
- Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.
