Your Opportunity: The Turningpoint Program (Unit 3-6) at Alberta Hospital Edmonton is an 18-bed inpatient forensic unit that supports youths and young adults who are in conflict with the law. The Turningpoint Program provides assessment, stabilization, short- and long-term treatment to youth with legal standing under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Stabilization is also provided to youths experiencing an acute psychiatric disturbance. The Turningpoint Program is a very dynamic and unique program, and the successful candidate will be skilled with engagement, de-escalation skills and healthy boundaries, while providing excellent care in a collaborative team environment. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description: As a Psychiatric Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs as well as assist with organized activities or programs. In this position, you will observe and report on a patient¿s mood, health, well-being, maintain effective communication with patients and health professionals, assist with the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors as well as assist in the general support of the work area.

**Required Qualifications:**Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.**Additional Required Qualifications:**A minimum of 2 years clinical experience in psychiatric, mental health or forensic is required. Certification in Suicide Prevention and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention is also required.**Preferred Qualifications:**Preference will be given to candidates with experience providing care to an adolescent population.
