The Cumming School of Medicine is currently seeking a Full-time Regular CSM LGI MedSIS 3c System Administrator.
The CSM LGI MedSIS 3c System Administrator is a key member of the internal MedSIS IT support team, responsible for managing and supporting the MedSIS 3c platform to drive organizational success. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Office of the Senior Associate Dean Education, they lead efforts to optimize the educational platform architecture, processes, and practices to maximize value and efficiency. The CSM LGI MedSIS 3c System Administrator works closely and collaboratively with comparable system administrators in Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) Undergraduate Medical Education (UME).
This position works independently with minimal guidance solving complex technical problems and leading the related implementation and maintenance of technological systems that may require applying new perspectives to achieve desired outcomes to the best interest of the programs.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Technical Responsibilities: LGI MedSIS (3c):
- Develop a thorough understanding of all functionality within LGI MedSIS 3c
- Function as a system super-user
- Develop an understanding of scheduling and assessment practices within PGME and UME that relate to the functionality of MedSIS 3c including a broad understanding of how medical education is structured and how learners are assessed
- System configuration for registration, assessment and evaluation elements within the system including but not limited to:
- Faculty onboarding/offboarding
- Medical learner onboarding
- Medical learner learning path and training line configuration
- New program onboarding
- Assessment forms
- Evaluation forms
- Events
- Procedure tracking
- Reporting features
- Ensure the smooth functioning, security, and reliability of the system to meet the diverse needs of our organization.
- Perform testing as needed for new releases and system updates
- Create reference guides for internal PGME, UME, and program use
- Assist with troubleshooting when the system is not functioning as anticipated
- Submit tickets in JIRA to LGI as required
Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting:
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the CSM to understand and support operational efficiency opportunities and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across our IT systems and processes
- Proactively identify areas for optimization and efficiency gains to support our organizational objectives
- Work collaboratively with other units in the CSM who utilize the MedSIS 3C platform to contribute positively to a community of practice
Internal Business Support:
- In collaboration with the PGME and UME system administrators, serve as the primary point of contact for CSM internal business needs related to LGI MedSIS 3C
- Provide guidance, support, and training to end-users to ensure effective utilization of LGI MedSIS 3C
- Develops, maintains and updates documentation regarding MedSIS 3C platform for end-users
- Act as the main liaison between the CSM, PGME, UME and University of Calgary IT/LGI MedSIS 3C
- Facilitate communication, manage relationships, and ensure alignment with our organizational goals
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field
- ERP and database experience are required
- 1-2 years experience in an accredited medical/academic education or an equivalent university environment
- Minimum of 5 -7 years of experience in systems management, business analysis experience is a bonus
- Experience and knowledge related to the U of C, its technology infrastructure and shared services resources would be a valuable asset
- Strong understanding of IT systems, project management, and data analysis tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to driving continuous improvement
- Experience in project management and change management is preferred
- Experience working alone as well as in a dynamic team with proven personal effectiveness and productivity is required
- Experience with Medical Education Assessment software is preferred
- Knowledge of medical education training environment is an asset
- Creative thinking and willingness to find novel solutions to tricky problems
- Proven organizational skills, multitasking and high attention to detail required
- Ability to think critically and creatively under pressure while exercising good judgement and discretion required
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize work within a demanding environment, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
- Demonstrated analytical, interpretive, and problem solving skills and the ability to exercise judgement to seek assistance and involve others when required in order to achieve solutions
- Ability to work independently to tight timelines, maintain confidentiality and deal effectively with overlapping and changing deadlines is required
