The Role
Reporting to the Vice President, Exploration, the District Geologist, Saskatchewan provides oversight to UEC’s portfolio of exploration projects in northern Sask. and is the lead technical expert and mentor working with a dynamic team of geoscientists and technicians on key Canadian properties within UEC’s portfolio. You will be responsible for:
· Helping to mentor a team of geologists and assist in the design and implementation of field programs to advance our portfolio of projects and satisfy corporate objectives.
· The supervision of field teams, and ensure that all relevant geological data is collected, processed, and interpreted by field staff during the field programs.
· You will be an integral part of the team by helping to grow the geological capacity of the field-based personnel.
The position is based out of our office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and will require travel to, and time spent, at our field projects in northern Saskatchewan.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement exploration strategies aligned with corporate objectives and assessment timelines, displaying strong portfolio management to leverage growth of UEC’s pipeline of exploration projects.
· Oversee all field exploration activities, including drilling, sampling, mapping, and geophysical surveys.
· Help grow the capacity and capability of the field team by exemplifying and mentoring positive leadership traits and a passion for geology.
· Manage exploration teams, contractors, and technical staff to ensure safe and effective operations while coaching these traits in the junior staff.
· Coach and mentor the interpretation of geological and geophysical data and provide recommendations for further exploration and resource development.
· Work collaboratively with management and project teams to set and monitor exploration budgets, timelines, and project milestones.
· Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations for UEC activities.
· Prepare technical reports, presentations, and investor materials as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field, and registered as a Professional Geologist or Engineer
· Experience managing exploration teams and contractors and either an established leader or a candidate that is ready to take on a broader leadership role beyond project management.
· Minimum of 8 years of experience in mineral exploration, experience with uranium deposit models, processes and chemistry will be considered and asset.
· Experience with both greenfield and brownfield exploration, experience with deposit delineation will be considered beneficial.
· Excellent organizational, planning, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of mineral exploration techniques including familiarity with various uranium deposit models.
· Familiarity with industry-standard software such as ArcGIS, Datamine Studio, DHLogger (or equivalent software packages), and Microsoft office suite.
· Understanding of regulatory requirements and permitting processes in Saskatchewan.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Experience with SK-1300 and NI43-101 disclosure standards is an asset.
