Summary:
Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Grader Operator is responsible for experienced operation of an Grader in an open pit mine worksite, or on a Civil Construction worksite. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Key Focuses:
- Operate and maintain the grader in a safe and efficient manner as required to meet specified operational deadlines.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and walk around inspection prior to operating the equipment.
- Maintain equipment, report any maintenance required.
- Operate the grader on surfaces to raise or lower terrain; perform site prep, soil stripping, finishing, dirt management, reclamation activities, granular final grade levelling, and haul road maintenance.
- Operate grader proficiently in close proximity to other vehicles, ground personnel, and utilities.
- Adhere to all Fort McKay Group of Companies policies and procedures, wear/maintain all PPE, reliably show up for work fit for duty, and complete any Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLRA) and control hazards related to the scope of work.
- Perform any related and/or additional construction duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.
- Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license is required
- 3 year Drivers Abstract is required
- OSSA Regional or BSO or CSO is required
- At least 3+ years of experience operating a grader with construction industry experience located on a project site is preferred, with relevant experience in an environment relating to Reclamation, Civil Earthworks, Mining, or Oil/Gas is required.
- Focus oriented, with a strong attention to detail
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to speak, write and read English is required
This is a temporary position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the Syncrude-MLX Site.
Work schedule is 12 days on, 2 days off, 11.5 hour shift.
