Contributes to the overall success of the Regulatory Relations team in Global Compliance ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen regulatory relationships while leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge:
- Supports coordination of interactions with Canadian regulators, including but not limited to:
- Supporting oversight for regulatory examinations and regulatory monitoring
- Assisting with centralized issue management systems and repository where documents are stored, and previous examination memos and reports are archived
- Coordinating events related to examinations and continuous monitoring, including scope and timing of reviews, monitoring and supporting delivery of requested information, and coordinating regulatory meetings with control functions and business unit personnel
- Collaborating with Business and Control Function staff to provide guidance on regulatory matters and supporting their regulatory interactions
- Support developing presentations for senior management meetings with regulatory stakeholders and regular reporting on regulatory matters to senior bank stakeholders and committees
- Support drafting of regulatory responses in coordination with other stakeholders and management
- Support monitoring and tracking of remediation commitments made by Scotiabank to Regulators
- Ensuring timely submission of all requested daily, weekly and monthly reporting to our regulators as required
- Developing and supporting internal dashboards on regulatory interactions, issues and deliverables
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Recent graduate with 1-2 years of banking/financial services experience.
- A university degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Mathematics is desirable.
- An understanding of financial markets, products and control functions.
- Excellent written and oral communication, with strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, with ability to multitask and manage changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently with both regulatory staff and Bank personnel.
- Strong Office productivity skills (MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
