The Role:
Job Title: Commercial & Agricultural Account Manager
Salary Range: $75,569.00 - $103,907.00 (commensurate with experience)
Job Function:
Responsible for the business development and management of the commercial and agriculture portfolios in the region
Manage a portfolio of businesses with lending needs within their region, involving annual review of the risk and profitability of each member’s account; monitor problem accounts and plans to minimize risk
Build relationships with existing members; network with external business organizations and individuals to generate new business
Receive and analyze financial and personal net worth statements; calculate debt servicing capacity; negotiate terms and conditions of loans
Identify and pursue opportunities to promote other business services and non-credit products; review current portfolio to ensure clients have proper banking products
Grant commercial and agriculture loans, mortgages and operating lines of credit for business purposes within lending limits; submit recommendations for credit to the Chief Experience Officer
Provide direction to Lending Administration staff
Support actions to improve the growth and development of the loan portfolio
Support Branch Managers in obtaining new business opportunities
Work with the Director of Commercial & Agricultural Experience to prepare budget objectives, monitor and coordinate activities to achieve budget objectives and profitability
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain an expert knowledge of commercial and agricultural lending policies and procedures, lending reports, and related/developing technology
- Monitor the competitive environment for product and delivery trends; stay current with competitive product trends and emerging technologies
- Act as a key advisor to Branch Managers and Financial Advisors in order to support existing and new commercial or agriculture member relationships
- Analyze loan requests using established lending criteria to safeguard member deposits and the viability of the Credit Union while supporting growth objectives
- Ensure necessary regulatory and compliance guidelines and measures are followed
- Collect and compile information and analyze financial statements to assess credit worthiness
- Review commercial overdraft report daily, and take appropriate action where required; deal effectively with commercial overdrafts and delinquency
- Process syndicated loan applications as requested
- Monitor and update the commercial member watch list and make suggestions for action as feel appropriate
- Conduct reviews of commercial accounts, including margining as required
- Review lending reports and take corrective action as required
- Ensure a proactive approach is taken in order to retain current business
- Ensure documentation is in compliance with commercial loan policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Achievement of Credit Union (or equivalent) lending courses in commercial and agricultural lending
- University Degree or work equivalency
- Thorough understanding of commercial and agricultural credit
- Display exceptional interpersonal skills by demonstrating approachability, trustworthiness, flexibility and a strong work and service ethic
- Proven relationship management and sales effectiveness skill, able to identify member needs and match appropriate solutions
- Understanding of markets and trends in the industry
- Demonstrate results orientation in both sales and service
- Thorough understanding of the Credit Union’s business strategies
- Thorough understanding of the Credit Union’s products and services
- Committed to continuous personal improvement
