The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) invites qualified applicants to apply for the full-time position of Records and Contracts Clerk III, located in Williams Lake, BC. A copy of the job description is attached for reference.
Position Summary: The successful candidate will have a diploma from a recognized technical institute in business administration or office administration and at least 5 years’ job-related work experience or a combination of equivalent training and experience may be considered. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and word processing (minimum 60 wpm), letter writing and proofreading skills are essential to this position, all of which will be tested during the interview process. The primary duties and responsibilities for the records management clerk include: maintaining the records management system; processing, coding, storing and retrieving records and documents; applying retention and disposal schedules according to established policies and procedures; assisting other staff in performing their duties, including assisting in various records management projects; supporting the records management program by assisting with lifecycle management and safekeeping of records; and ensuring corporate records are retained and disposed of in accordance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements and the CRD’s records management system.
In addition, the incumbent will be able to demonstrate the ability to meet and deal with the public in a pleasant and tactful manner; distribute incoming documents; process contracts; work in Laserfiche and eScribe; provide administrative support services with respect to typing correspondence and other documents; processing incoming and outgoing mail; taking minutes; and perform basic accounting duties. The successful candidate must have the ability to type a variety of materials; compose routine correspondence; and prepare and maintain files, records, reports and related material with detail and accuracy. The incumbent will be expected to provide relief/backup clerical duties for the Senior Administrative Services Clerk and front counter duties.
Wage: This is a full-time BCGEU position. The current rate of pay is $31.97 per hour plus benefits. A standard 90-day probationary period will apply during which the candidate’s suitability for employment will be assessed.
Worksite Location: The successful candidate will operate out of the Cariboo Regional District Williams Lake Office located at Suite D, 180 Third Avenue North, Williams Lake, BC.
Hours of Work: This position works on a 9-day fortnight schedule, working a total of 70 hours bi-weekly Monday through Friday, with every other Friday off.

Who We Are The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) spans both municipal and rural boundaries to deliver services to wide areas with common needs. The services offered by the regional district are varied, and include services like fire protection, recreation, library, waste management and utility systems.
Incorporation The CRD is a regional government that functions independently of the provincial government. It was incorporated in 1968. The CRD consists of 12 electoral areas and four incorporated member municipalities, including Quesnel, Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, and Wells. The Cariboo Regional District presently serves an estimated population of just over 60,000 residents, based on the 2011 population census.
Location Located in the BC Central Interior, the Cariboo Regional District straddles Highway 97 from 70 Mile in the south to five kilometres south of Hixon in the north, from the Cariboo Mountains in the east to the Coastal Mountains in the west. The region covers an area of 80,262 square kilometres.
Governance A Board of Directors formed by 12 Electoral Area Directors and four Municipal Directors governs the Cariboo Regional District. The Electoral Area Directors are elected directly by area voters and Municipal Directors are appointed by their Council. All directors serve for a four year term. Every year, the Board of Directors selects its own Chair, and appoints members to sit on committees that deal with various regional concerns.
The Board of Directors has the responsibility to act in one clear voice for the corporate interests of all residents of the Cariboo Regional District. The Board must also respond to the needs of the many different constituencies within the Regional District, determine the appropriate tax consequences for delivering needed services, and communicate with taxpayers on what services will be provided and how they will be delivered.
