About the role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to learn and grow in a healthcare setting?
We are looking for an energetic, outgoing team member to join our team FULL TIME (up to 40 hours) as an OPTOMETRIC/OPTICAL ASSISTANT at Downtown Vision, in the heart of downtown Toronto!
We provide routine eye exams, advance dry eye treatments and specialty contact lenses, along with a full-service optical with a curated mid to high end frame selection. Previous optical/optometry experience is highly recommended but training available for the right candidate.

Job Responsibilities:
- Selling glasses and contact lenses, including frame selection, taking measurements, frame adjustments and recommending lenses to patients
- Administering pre-testing before patients see the doctor
- Reception work, including greeting patients at check-in, answer phone calls and email inquiries in a courteous and friendly manner
- Checking out patients, taking payments and processing insurance claims
- Booking appointments, including sending patient reminders and recalls
- Maintain patient records via electronic health record system and using computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook etc)
The Successful Candidate
- Passionate about customer experience; a great communicator who can provide exceptional patient care
- Energetic, self-motivated to work and take up new initiatives
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- English proficiency (written and spoken)
- Good computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite
- Previous knowledge/experience (1 year in optical or medical setting)
- Post-secondary education (bachelor’s degree or diploma)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 39 per week
