Job Summary:
In this leadership role, the Residential Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the residential program and a day program, and the care and welfare of the individuals living in the home and participating in the day program. Their exceptional leadership skills will drive the successful implementation and execution of household programs while developing and maintaining a cohesive team spirit and positive work environment within the home and within Kardel Consulting as a whole.

Specific Job Requirements and Deliverables:

To support and promote friendly, professional and effective working relationships with family, friends, advocates, staff members, colleagues and other stakeholders of the individuals that reside in the home.

To oversee and encourage personal and team training according to needs and/or administrator recommendations. To identify high potential employees and create plans for their personal development and training.
Personnel Management:
- Direct supervisor of all direct care staff in the home.
-Performance management including orientation, ongoing training and regular feedback including formal evaluations. Maintain all necessary documentation for progressive discipline.

Empower and coach staff members and allow autonomy to perform duties while having the confidence to hold staff members accountable when procedural challenges arise.

Manager is responsible for ensuring adequate staffing is in place at the group home/day program. The manager ensures staff call outs are completed as defined in the Collective agreement. The manager will implement the process for crisis staffing and redeployment as required.
-Coordination of healthcare services in the home; Health services for Community Living for signing off of staff delegation of task by R.N., Dietician, Occupational/Physio Therapists and Dental Hygienist when applicable.
- Be available to other managers and support workers for training, consultation regarding appropriate practice and philosophical orientation and to engage in New Manager’s Orientation Checklist.
Persons Supported:

Interact effectively with individuals supported with the provision of direct care and delegated tasks when needed and in personal interactions.

Have knowledge of each individual's daily patterns and routines, preferences and needs; ensure that decisions regarding residents reflect concern for safety, individuality, interests and quality of life.

Plan special events (e.g., home parties, seasonal celebrations and resident vacations etc.)
-
Responsible for development and implementation of behaviour management and skill acquisition programs for individuals as required with consultation with other team members such as; CRT, HSCL and to make use of additional professional consultations as appropriate.

Coordinate the completion of Person Centred Plans, Individual Care Plans, and Physical Assistance Procedures. Responsible for continuous data collection and analysis of goal progression and achievement.
Liaison:

Manager is primary contact person for VIHA Licensing.
-
Manager is primary contact person for CLBC representative.
-
Manager is primary contact for Day Programs and communications with Day Programs.
-
Manager is primary contact for families and advocates of residents and to encourage their input and participation.
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
-
Post secondary education in a related field.
-
Two years previous work experience in an environment working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred.
-
Administrative and supervisory experience is required.
-
Will be required to meet the standards of the Community Care Facilities Act.
-
Class IV driver’s license is required for transporting clients where applicable.
-
A First Aid certificate acceptable to licensing; Food Safe certification.
-
Tuberculosis screening.

Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
-
Demonstrated leadership and management skills
-
Thorough understanding of the community based social service system
Hours of Work:
Hours of work are generally 0800 to 1600, Monday to Friday, with adjustments in the Manager’s work schedule to effectively support and supervise staff members. Occasionally, the Manager is required to work front line and to attend to matters relating to the operation of the home outside regular working hours.
Managers are expected to be on call during weekday evenings. This is considered to be included in the responsibilities of the Manager and reflected in the annual salary. No additional pay provision is made except as may be authorized for overtime as per Kardel policy.
