Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean – Integrative Health and Wellness, the Simulation Laboratory Technician will assist with the coordination, implementation and evaluation of learning activities for students, staff and faculty using a variety of strategies including simulation technology. The incumbent will also participate collaboratively in the implementation and evaluation of the simulation lab strategic plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and maintains simulation labs and equipment for programs
  • Provides demonstration of proper equipment use and relevant procedures
  • Provides input into student achievement of learning outcomes and supports student progress through effective and timely communication
  • Utilizes appropriate technological tools that support the learning environment
  • Responsible for facilitating low fidelity simulation independently
  • With guidance/mentorship, runs high fidelity simulations
  • Participates as a member of the IP Simulation Team in discussions about operations
  • Attends Simulation team meeting as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two (2) or three (3) year diploma in a related health field such as Paramedic, Registered Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Massage Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy, Medical Radiation Tech or similar that provides patient care.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in a health care setting
  • Experience with simulation/simulation equipment considered an asset
  • Aptitude or ability to work with relevant College systems anddatabases
  • Well-developed interpersonal and written and oral communicationskills
  • Excellent proven problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and individually with minimal supervision
  • An ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse student and stakeholder population
