About the role

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Transportation Market Leader with a strong background across transportation infrastructure projects, along with proven business development skills and an established track record of actively pursuing new business leads and winning work across the Transportation Market in Western Canada. The Transportation Market Leader is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth with a particular focus on strategic positioning and partnering, while also building and developing deep client relationships. This role can be based in either Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of duties and will see you involved in:

  • Winning Work : Boldly growing our market share across a range of transportation services with diverse clients in Western Canada. Lead or assist the team with a combination of activities including pre-positioning efforts, managing pursuits and preparing proposals.
  • Business Planning: Accountability for Transportation business planning objectives. Contribute to annual and longer-term business plan development, forecast performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), lead business cases for key activities/projects and work with the Business Group Leader on resourcing needs required to deliver on performance and business plan targets.
  • Industry Presence: Grow professional network across the Transportation industry, including representing GHD at external events. Drive market intelligence gathering and enhance the visibility and reputation of the organization and its services.
  • Client Relationship Development : Develop and implement relationship management plans for targeted client accounts to identify and build relationships with relevant decision-makers and influencers within the client ecosystem and to enable effective engagement from pre-positioning through execution and delivery.
  • Leadership : Role model our culture as a Leader in our region. Communicate effectively, including actions needed to implement strategy and business plan, explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values, motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
  • Marketing : Leverage our marketing team to connect our technical excellence with the market. Be the champion for the Western Canada Transportation Marketing Plan, balancing regional context and impact, with our global aspirations.
  • Budgeting: Provide the Business Group Leader with market insights to help inform the annual budgeting process, identify revenue targets and resourcing needs.
  • Operational Compliance: Ensure winning work procedures, limits of authority and pipeline monitoring is in compliance with the organization's policies and best practices.
  • Mentorship and Succession Planning: Mentor team members providing guidance on client and partner engagement. Involve Team Leads, Project Directors and Project Managers in externally facing activities. Develop the team’s skillset for winning work and conduct succession planning to ensure sustainable growth.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of substantial work experience with municipal, provincial and public sector transportation projects (Ie: Highways, Roads, Bridges).
  • Professional Engineering designation (ie. P.Eng.) is highly desirable.
  • Strong reputation within the engineering consulting industry.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an ability to clearly present strategy, expertise and brand. Self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude, committed to working collaboratively, thinking critically and actively engaging with colleagues and clients.

Salary range: $180,000 to $230,000 based on experience.
