About the role
Horizon Recruitment Inc. is supporting a growing and innovative organization in their search for an experienced Assistant Controller to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a CPA-designated professional with a strong background in financial reporting, consolidations, and corporate accounting. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on work, technical challenges, and exposure to global operations.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and executive-level reporting packages
- Lead financial reporting for foreign operations and global consolidations
- Support the month-end close process and financial analysis
- Assist with technical accounting research and documentation, including IFRS updates and complex issues
- Coordinate external audits and prepare supporting working papers, including those for international subsidiaries
- Participate in M&A activities, including due diligence and business combination accounting
- Oversee equity-based compensation reporting and regulatory filings
- Maintain and test internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Help automate and improve accounting processes and reporting systems
- Cross-train across finance functions and support special projects as needed
Requirements:
- CPA designation required
- 5–10 years of accounting and financial reporting experience
- Public practice background considered an asset but not required
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and multi-entity consolidations
- Experience with equity-based compensation, M&A accounting, and internal controls
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience with multi-currency environments is an asset
