As the Manager, Planning and Administration, you’ll oversee day-to-day branch operations while setting the direction for service planning, resource management, and customer satisfaction. This is a high-impact role where your leadership will directly influence service performance, safety, and financial results.

Job Description:

  • Lead and manage branch staff, including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance feedback, and professional development to foster a high-performing team.
  • Promote a safe and healthy workplace, ensuring all employees, contractors, and customers adhere to safety policies and practices.
  • Oversee the work order process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with customer expectations and service standards.
  • Identify and implement service improvements, continuously seeking ways to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage service operations and assets, aligning with corporate strategy to achieve optimal financial performance and resource utilization.
  • Plan and report on service financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and asset/facility requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with service agreements, warranty and goodwill practices, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Utilize service support systems, including DBS and MS Office Suite, to manage operations and support decision-making.
  • Maintain strong internal relationships, collaborating with other departments while upholding confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Represent the branch and company values, ensuring ethical conduct and a customer-first approach in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a service environment, with a strong understanding of operations and customer interactions.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to manage, coach, and develop staff in a unionized environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and service support systems, with emphasis on DBS and work order management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Caterpillar products and services, including warranty, goodwill, and service agreement practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Thorough understanding of Finning’s work order cycle, policies, and procedures, including safety and compliance standards.
  • Experience with budget forecasting and financial reporting, aligned with operational goals and corporate strategy.
  • Knowledge of collective agreements, with the ability to manage within unionized environments and support positive labor relations.
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing risks and opportunities.

Note:

  • This position is based out of our Mildred Lake location.
  • Monday – Friday, 5 x 2 schedule.
  • Temporary, full-time role for 12 months.
