About the role

Project: Canadian Royalties Inc.

Location: Northern Quebec (100km south of Deception Bay, 1800km north of Montreal, Canada)

Rotation : 14 days on, 14 days off

Shift work : 12 hours

Travel: Flights to and from Val d'Or, Montreal, Quebec City, Nunavik and La Grande Rivière.

Accommodation: Remote site - camp

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the primary role of the Mechanized Bolter is to inspect existing underground headings, scale loose rocks and install ground support to stabilize rock mass and ensure safety using mechanized bolting equipment.

General:

  • Identify and rectify unsafe conditions in underground headings
  • Drill holes using mechanized bolting equipment
  • Install resin rebar using mechanized bolting equipment
  • Install other ground support components as required such as welded wire mesh, straps, cable bolts or swellex
  • Keep track of all work progress and communicate to supervisors and cross shifts status of workplace
  • Must be able to comprehend written Engineering prints and verbal instructions as required to perform assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Must be able to perform pre-operational inspections on equipment and operate in a safe and efficient manner
  • The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive

Health and Safety:

  • Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment

  • Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions

  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.

  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.

  • Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience:

  • 2 years or more experience with mechanized bolting equipment in an underground mining environment
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a underground miner
