**Data Analyst (6 Month Contract)
Location: New Westminster, BC / Hybrid
Staffing Placement Opportunity** Project Overview This position supports a dynamic Data Solutions team focused on a wide range of initiatives, including the development of innovative data tools, optimization of existing systems, and the provision of ongoing operational support. The team plays a vital role in enabling data-driven decision-making by ensuring data integrity, supporting business needs, and maintaining reliable systems.
Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Manager, Analytics & Development, and working closely with Product Management, the Contractor will:
- Analyze enterprise data and advise on the application of Data Management best practices.
- Perform detailed analysis of business data flows and processes; identify anomalies, patterns, overlaps, and recommend improvements.
- Develop and implement data quality control and monitoring processes.
- Collaborate with support and development teams to define data flows, translate business requirements into data requirements, and produce necessary documentation.
- Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models; update corporate metadata repositories.
- Stay informed on evolving data management technologies and practices; support service improvements and recommend enhancements to enterprise data strategy.
- Conduct data quality assurance (QA) tasks including validation, transformation checks, user acceptance testing (UAT) support, and issue tracking.
DELIVERABLES MAY INCLUDE:
- Enterprise data analysis reports
- Data quality assessments and monitoring processes
- Conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Metadata documentation
- Data requirements and profiling summaries
- Source-to-target mapping validations
- QA testing results and logs
- Data reconciliation and issue tracking reports
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience in ETL projects and data analysis
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SSIS, SQL Server (2012–2019), and Spark (PySpark/Python) in Azure
- Expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Data Lake Storage, Synapse, Power BI, and Crystal Reports
- Proven experience with on-prem to cloud migration (preferably in Azure)
- Familiarity with designing Data Lakes and Warehouses
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) using Terraform
- Strong background in data pipeline development (ETL/ELT)
- Diploma in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of business or systems analysis experience
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
- Proven stakeholder engagement experience across diverse teams
- Demonstrated ability to gather, consolidate, and analyze functional/technical requirements
NICE TO HAVE:
- Data model design expertise
- Experience working with Databricks
- Background in unionized environments
