Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Technical Support Services Supervisor, and reporting to the Chair, the Computer Network Administrator will support the computer hardware and software resources used in educational, administrative and research activities of the department.
Job has shared responsibilities with the computer network technician to install and maintain servers, operating systems, systems patches; creating windows/linux image, network installation, monitoring and fault diagnosis. The job also assists in maintaining hardware and software inventory.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- The work requires knowledge and experience in use of system administration tool, shell scripting, scripting languages.
- The position also requires working experience with Windows, Linux, Mac OS and UNIX operating system in use in the department.
- Network configuration requires experience with ethernet, wireless technologies and TCP/IP protocols used on the network.
- The incumbent must be able to read, analyze and interpret technical documents. Must be able to write technical reports and be able to effectively present information to faculty and staff.
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- 3 year Computer Engineering Technology degree or diploma in Computer Science
- 1 year of studies in a Enterprise Network Specialist program
- Equivalencies will be considered.
- 7-8 years in computer systems and network administration.
