About the role

If you answered yes, then this may be the role for you. Our Port Hope location is looking for an Integrated Work Control (IWC) Planner to join the team. Apply today!

What will you be doing!

  • Assisting in the development and refinement of the new CNL IWC procedure and processes.
  • Leading the planning and development of the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Ensuring excellence in health and safety, quality assurance.
  • Executing complex technical work under the general guidance of the IWC Planning Lead.
  • Performing walk-downs and roundtable meetings to identify hazards and assisting in the hazard control selection.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • A degree from a recognized institute in safety, civil construction or environment, or its equivalent in experience, additional education and/or recognized training. Or
    • A diploma from a recognized institute in safety, civil construction or environment, or its equivalent in experience, additional education and/or recognized training.
  • Experience
    • With a degree: 3 years of relevant experience with demonstrated increase in responsibility.
    • With a diploma: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience with demonstrated increase in responsibility.
    • Previous experience as an IWC Planner or Formal training in Integrated Work Control processes is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities.....
    • Familiarity with the Port Hope and Port Granby projects.
    • Strong familiarity with multi-disciplinary environmental investigations, and good familiarity with construction and/or engineering project work.
    • Knowledge of safety requirements under provincial and federal legislation.
    • Working knowledge and practical experience in a broad range of workplaces/processes/equipment.
    • Previous experience or knowledge working with Integrated Work Control is an asset.
    • A valid Ontario class “G” (or equivalent) driver’s license.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently without direct guidance or supervision.
    • The ability to work effectively, manage conflicting priorities, and maintain good working relationships with team members.
    • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills (both internal and external stakeholders).
    • Strong technical writing skills.
    • Strong oral communication skills in English.
    • Advanced decision making and/or reasoning; strategic/critical thinking; problem solving; project management.
    • Computer operating skills and familiarity with MS Office software, as well as other applicable software.
    • Ability to prioritize work based on changing demands of the project.
    • Demonstrated personal accountability.
    • Ability to think critically and logically.
    • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • Must be in good physical condition as outdoor activities, such as walking, standing, and possibly climbing ladders may be required.
