Term: Permanent Full-Time

Hours: 35 hours per week

Shift: Standard work hours are Monday – Friday, however hours may vary to meet program needs

Start Date: August 1, 2025

Salary: $60,00-$68,000 annually (Plus$6 per hour for Licensed ECE’s as per the Provincial Government’s Wage Enhancement Initiative)

Reports To: Director, Child Care Operations, Program & Curriculum Development

About the position

The Manager, Early Years Child Care Operations, is responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple child care programs and initiatives that promote the health and well-being of children and families. This includes supporting our Early Years child care programs located in Gastown and East Vancouver. These programs are supported by the YMCA’s Healthy Family Network, which provides enhanced programs and supports to children and families such as hot lunch, family dinners, music and art therapy, etc. In alignment with YMCA BC’s Strategic Plan, key priorities include supporting the expansion of licensed child care, providing strong leadership to staff, and building and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities**-** in this position, you will**:**

  • Provide strategic oversight and daily operational support to 4+ licensed Early Years Child Care Centres, ensuring smooth program delivery and a strong focus on staff engagement and team development.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of 5–6 direct reports—including a Program Supervisor, Team Leaders, Cooks, and Family Support Workers—as well as approximately 40 front-line staff. Foster a high-performing team culture that upholds Provincial Licensing Regulations and YMCA standards.
  • Actively participate as a member of the management team, contributing to collective decision-making and initiatives that advance the mission and values of YMCA BC.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate programs that are culturally responsive, community-driven, and rooted in principles of equity and inclusion, with a strong focus on supporting families facing systemic barriers. This includes engaging with diverse communities to ensure services are accessible, relevant, and reflective of their lived experiences.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving Branch and Association goals related to annual operating plans, budgets, fundraising, YMCA initiatives, and special projects, ensuring programs operate at full capacity.

Qualification**-you bring:**

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading teams of staff or volunteers.

  • University degree in a related field preferred; Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated experience working with families facing systemic barriers and delivering programs that are culturally responsive, community driven, and ground in principles of equity and inclusion.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Valid First Aid Certificate required.

  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references

  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
