Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented School Bus Dispatcher to join our Orillia team. This part-time position plays a vital role in the afternoon coordination of school bus routes, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be calm under pressure, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and Schedule Transportation: Assign and adjust school bus routes to ensure smooth daily operations
- Monitor Daily Operations: Track vehicle locations, address service disruptions, and maintain on-time performance
- Communicate with Key Stakeholders: Act as a central contact for drivers, school administrators, and families
- Data Entry & Record-Keeping: Accurately log route changes, delays, incidents, and compliance records
- Problem-Solving & Emergency Response: Quickly respond to issues such as delays, vehicle breakdowns, or safety concerns
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety standards and internal company policies
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Prior experience in dispatching, transportation, or logistics is an asset
- Strong verbal communication and multitasking abilities
- Comfortable using phones, two-way radios, and dispatch software (training provided)
- Highly organized and dependable
- Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
- High school diploma or equivalent
