Job Summary and Qualifications

We currently have a Regular Full-time opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst – Capital in the Finance, Capital and Treasury at our Bayview Campus.

Hours of Work: Weekdays, 8 hours/day; as per schedule

Summary of Duties

The General Accounting department of Sunnybrook Health Science Centre has an opening for Senior Financial Analyst – Capital. The Senior Financial Analyst will play a lead role in tracking and managing all aspects of the Hospital’s capital projects and special audits. The successful candidate must have demonstrated success working independently as a self-starter in a fast paced environment, along with excellent interpersonal skills.

Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for:

Capital Projects:

  • Maintain and manage capital-related budgeting and expenditure for projects

  • Manage all aspects of the Project System within SAP (e.g. capital budgets, associated spend), including month-end settlement entries and internal charges

  • Work with other departments, including Corporate Planning, Information Technology, etc to lead the quarterly cash flow project forecast and ensure financial records are accurate & up to date

  • Lead all aspects of capital special audits, including but not limited to capital projects from the Ministry Capital Branch, Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, etc.

  • Prepare internal reports to stakeholders for all projects

  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of data in compliance with Hospital policies & accounting standards

  • Prepare reconciliations & supporting documents for financial statements and audit

  • Financial Modelling including sensitivity analysis, budget modelling, and any other financial analysis required by management to evaluate new capital requests and risks/opportunities associated with projects

  • Ad-hoc analysis, projects and other assignments as required

Process Improvement:

  • Participating in identifying and implementing process improvements throughout the department to help streamline, develop, and coordinate processes
  • Informing project system improvements and streamlining of financial processes where needed within SAP

Qualifications/Skills

  • 5+ years of financial analysis experience including capital projects and budgeting experience in a hospital or industry setting
  • Mandatory Chartered Professional Accountant (CA, CMA or CGA) designation
  • Excellent analytical skills, with ability to interpret large amounts of financial data and summarize it to present meaningful information to various levels of management
  • Expert in modeling business cases and building management reports
  • Ability to take initiative and be proactive in owning projects and processes, working independently without detailed instruction
  • Multi-tasker with a solid sense of prioritization and the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills with all levels of management
  • High proficiency using a major ERP (e.g. SAP) and Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel, PowerPoint and Word
