NVRC provides recreation, sport and arts and cultural programming, activities and events on behalf of the City and District. NVRC operates nine community centres, the North Vancouver Tennis Centre and Centennial Theatre, the North Shore’s largest theatre. NVRC’s arts and cultural services include an arts and culture grants program, an artist residency program, an art display program, public art, events support and hosting, operation of Centennial Theatre and delivery of art programs and services.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Senior HR Advisor is a key member of NVRC’s HR team, playing a critical role in supporting NVRC’s strategic goals. The Senior HR Advisor will provide expert support across a range of human resource services. Providing informed guidance on complex workplace matters, labour relations, and employee relations, always considering both legal and public accountability perspectives. This role also contributes to the development of HR policies, leads and supports special initiatives, and helps assess and implement changes related to new legislation and regulations. Working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, the Senior HR Advisor balances strategic thinking with hands-on service delivery.
The ideal candidate brings over five (5) years of progressive experience as an HR generalist leveraging a deep knowledge of the core HR functions across a diverse workforce, including full-time and auxiliary employees with seasonal turnover. The preferred candidate has demonstrated experience in labour relations, including collective agreement interpretation, investigations, classification and compensation, and policy development. The preferred candidate will be comfortable providing strategic HR advice, with the acumen to escalate matters leadership as appropriate. A degree in Human Resources or a related field is required, and a CPHR designation is considered an asset. A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
This is an exempt full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate may be required to work evenings and weekends, and at any facility within NVRC. The salary for this position is $116,852.63 - $129,492.75, supplemented by a comprehensive total compensation plan.
