Location:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week (subject to change).

Team Overview The Compliance and Ethics (C&E) function is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and resourceful Advisor or Senior Advisor, Compliance Risk Management (CRM). You will be reporting to the Director, Compliance Risk Management and an integral part of a growing team of compliance professionals within the Second Line of Defence which is focused on delivering continuous improvements to enhance the scope and efficiency of the Compliance Risk Management Program. In this role, you will be responsible for the management of the regulatory watch process (in collaboration with internal stakeholders) as well as oversight over day-to-day compliance activities of certain lines of business.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in compliance, risk management, or legal services, with experience in the review and analysis of laws and regulations in order to identify new or amended compliance obligations. The candidate will have strong interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders to conduct oversight over the implementation of compliance controls to ensure compliance with such new or amended compliance obligations.
What You Will Be Doing
- In collaboration with Legal Services, monitor external landscape for new or amended compliance requirements applicable to EDC and its subsidiaries, both in Canada and internationally
- Identify and coordinate with internal stakeholders (including other C&E teams (Financial Crimes, Privacy and Ethics)) regarding new and amended compliance requirements and conduct oversight regarding the implementation of compliance controls balancing business needs, compliance requirements and best practices,
- Oversee and monitor the day-to-day compliance activities, including the design and implementation of compliance controls for the detection, assessment, mitigation and management of compliance risks,
- Provide specialist advice on the interpretation of compliance obligations and the application of compliance policies and procedures, resolve complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling relevant stakeholders to take appropriate action.
- Collaborate in the preparation of regular reports and updates to senior management on compliance matters and trends.
- Stay current on regulatory developments and industry best practices to ensure the effectiveness of compliance testing programs.
- As required, assist with special projects to support the enhancement of the Compliance Risk Management Program.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Law, Finance, Business or other field relevant for this role),
- Experience in the review and analysis of laws and regulations to identify, assess and mitigate compliance obligations through the implementation of compliance controls,
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance or legal services in respect of the financial services industry and/or Crown corporation environment,
- Excellent research, analytical skills and ability to synthesize information, tailoring the tone and content to match the needs and expectations of each audience and
- Ability to establish effective interpersonal relations.
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Previous experience in using Governance Risk Compliance (GRC) tool such as Archer, Resolver, Open Pages etc.,
- Exposure to the development of financial services laws and regulations or policy decisions,
- Experience in liaising with regulatory authorities,
- Knowledge of Privacy or laws pertaining to Financial Crime (Anti-money laundering, Anti- terrorist financing, Bribery & Corruption, Sanctions), and
- Knowledge of both official languages (English and French).
- Experience with Microsoft Office, MS Lists and Power BI.
