Senior Vice President, Earth & Environment - Prairies & North
WSP is currently seeking a Senior Vice President, Earth & Environment - Prairies & North . WSP has Canada’s largest Earth & Environment consulting business, with over 5,500 engineers, scientists, and technicians. Our market-leading position in the region draws upon decades of experience and strong client relationships in the oil and gas, mining, government, industrial, energy, and transportation sectors.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Earth & Environment, you will be responsible for leading one of the largest E&E sub-sectors, consisting of approximately 800 specialized staff generating over $150 million in annual revenue. The Prairies & North includes the following provinces and territories:
- Alberta
- Saskatchewan
- Manitoba
- Northwest Territories
- Nunavut
As the Senior Vice President, you will operate as the key strategic leader and play a critical role in delivering on our strategic and operational plans. In many of these regions, WSP holds a market leading position in E&E services and is well positioned to benefit from strong industry tailwinds in defense, energy transition, resource extraction and transportation. Drawing on your technical expertise and deep understanding of the Earth & Environment industry, you will leverage your leadership experience to further advance WSP’s leading position in these dynamic and growing markets.

A day in the life:
- You will visibly champion the WSP imperatives of Health, Safety & Environment Quality (HSEQ), Inclusion, Belonging, and Ethics & Compliance, ensuring they are an overriding part of the organizational culture.
- You will lead the strategic evolution of the business by developing and executing a vision that supports long-term, sustainable growth.
- You will be client-facing, supporting the development and growth of new and existing clients across the five regional markets.
- You will actively foster a culture of innovation, integrating technology and artificial intelligence solutions into our service offerings, including the development of alternative commercial models for revenue generation.
- You will develop the business line’s operating plans and financial forecasts.
- You will provide leadership by communicating the operating plan and targets, engaging all business line operational and project management employees in achieving business objectives.
- You will be responsible for optimizing the performance of the business line’s operations, including project margin, staff utilization, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and administration costs.
- With key support from the business line finance leader, you will forecast the business line’s financial performance, ensure accurate revenue recognition, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts.
- You will define contracting strategies, commercial terms, and risk mitigation measures during key pursuit processes, including direct interaction with customers during negotiations.
- You will provide guidance and direction to ensure operational and project delivery excellence.
- You will conduct regular project reviews to ensure that budget, schedule, risk, and cost-to-complete estimates are accurate and up to date.
- You will work collaboratively with other WSP sectors—including Energy, Industrial, and Transportation—to ensure integrated planning and execution of multidisciplinary projects.
- You will monitor business development investments to ensure acceptable returns on investment, aligned with the business line strategy and its backlog and sales targets.
- You will be responsible for managing and developing employees in accordance with WSP’s core values, the performance management program, and the job architecture and job family structure—including supporting the identification, retention, and development of top talent.

A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or another technical discipline.

A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience managing and leading an Earth and Environment business.

A day in the life:
