Position Title: Accounting Clerk
Department: Finance
Location: Timmins, ON
Reports To: Financial Controller
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
Dumas is a leading full-service mining contractor operating in the Americas. The company’s client list includes some of the world’s largest and most respected mining companies.
Dumas is the contractor of choice for the most technically challenging underground projects, including mine construction, full-scale mine development, production mining, mine services and engineering.
Under the direction of the Financial Controller, the Accounting Clerk will assist the Accounting Department primarily in Invoicing and Accounts Payable duties.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Invoicing and Accounts Payable functions on day-to-day basis.
- Prepare and submit customer invoices.
- Attend queries from customers.
- Follow up with Customers for payments.
- Receiving and recording receipts and payments.
- Interacting with employees, banks, customers and vendors on various work-related matters to resolve issues.
- Checking for accuracy in reports, figures, and postings
- Entering employee claims and supplier invoices in Sage 300
- Maintaining multiple spreadsheets as supporting schedules.
- Perform other duties relevant to above as may be assigned from time to time.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Technical Competencies
- Basic accounting knowledge and skills.
- Good analytical and mathematical abilities.
- Remarkable attention to detail and accuracy
- Above average skill with computer applications, Excel being the most important.
- General knowledge of contracting industry and mining is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a busy environment.
General Competencies
- Integrity and Trust – is seen as a direct, truthful individual that will adhere to Dumas’ code of business conduct.
- Communication: Good communication skills both verbal and written (being bilingual is asset but not required).
- Problem Solving – the ability to use logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions.

Work Experience and Educational Level
- Post-secondary education in accounting
- At least 3-years' experience in accounting, invoicing or accounts receivable.
