POSITION SUMMARY:
The Intermediate Accountant supports the financial reporting operations of the company. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Intermediate Accountant is responsible for preparing financial reports, performing reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, supporting audit processes, and assisting in various accounting functions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual looking to advance their accounting career within a dynamic team environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements
  • Ensures GAAP/ASPE compliance in day-to-day accounting tasks
  • Performs monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Maintains general ledger and prepares journal entries
  • Assists with year-end and audit preparation
  • Supports cash flow reporting and analysis
  • Participates in variance analysis and management reporting
  • Assists in the preparation of financial information for tenders and other reporting needs
  • Prepares and processes A/R and A/P transactions
  • Assists with HST and corporate tax remittance filings
  • Prepares cheque runs and associated documentation for review
  • Ensures adherence to internal controls and company policies
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of financial processes
  • Performs other accounting duties as assigned

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • 2–4 years of experience in public practice or industry accounting
  • Actively pursuing or has recently completed an accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required
  • Experience with Jonas software is an asset
  • Knowledge of the construction and/or electrical industry is an asset
