Job Description In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Coordinator, Administrative Services, the Program Support Clerk provides support to a range of programs, projects and initiatives. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties such as processing client billings; tracking and reporting rent supplements; maintaining files; typing letters and tables and data entry; photocopying; and setting up meetings. Utilizes a variety of personal computer application software such as Excel, Access, Word, Power Point and related desktop publishing and graphics software to format/design, run and maintain correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, surveys, newsletters, web pages, communications, databases, and spreadsheets from rough draft or as directed.
Compiles, organizes, summarizes and maintains various statistical data bases and generates reports as directed reviewing statistics for trends, variances and anomalies and reporting observations to the appropriate staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience High school graduation, supplemented with courses in office or business administration, word processing, spreadsheet and database software plus two years of recent related experience in the community or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Valid BC drivers license and have a personal vehicle available to travel between work sites.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to keyboard at 55 wpm
- Ability to effectively use a variety of software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software at an intermediate level.
- Ability to operate office related equipment, e.g. computer, multi-function printer.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize workload and work under deadline pressure.
- Effective interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to deal with clients and the general public.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other divisional and regional staff.
