Job Description

The Release of Information Specialist is responsible for coordinating the release of health information at Osler by applying legislative requirements specific to personal health information.

Accountabilities:

  • Extensive communication and interaction with internal clinical and administrative areas, physicians, external agencies, lawyers etc. as well as our patients and their families

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited health information management program with an active membership with and certified by the Canadian Health Information Management Association

  • Knowledge of legislation associated with release of information, such as the Personal Health Information Protection Act and the Public Hospitals Act

  • Minimum of one year experience in a release of information position in a health information management department required

  • Experience using the Meditech medical records/correspondence modules required

  • Familiarity with other Osler clinical systems such as ImageNow, PICIS, Perceptive Content and REACH portal

  • Must have a good understanding/knowledge of standard health information practices and procedures, preferably at Osler

  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to interact directly with physicians, lawyers and other external agencies as well as our patients and their families and internal units/departments

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions within the scope of the job

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate requests received to ensure continuity of patient care in a timely fashion

  • Enjoy working in a busy and sometimes pressured environment

  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record

  • Ability to travel between and work at all Osler sites as assigned

Additional Information

Hours: Currently days (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Fully Onsite: Roles involved in direct patient care that are needed onsite for each shift.

Hourly Salary:
Minimum: $30.22
Maximum: $33.15
