About this role:
As a Transfer Care Attendant at Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home – Burlington Chapel, located in Burlington, Ontario, you will have the opportunity to provide outstanding customer service to the families we serve through the transportation of decedents to the funeral home or crematorium as required and the operation and maintenance of vehicles including but not limited to: vans, lead cars (sedans), professional vehicles, coaches and limousines.
We are looking to fill this position with two qualified, action-oriented and self-motivated individuals who is capable of prioritizing and handling multiple demands simultaneously.
Job Type: Part-time, Permanent
This is a current vacancy, and we are actively seeking to fill two openings for this position.
Key Qualifications and Demonstrated Abilities:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent and knowledge of basic accounting.
- Excellent knowledge of Funeral Home procedures and business practices including Everyday Excellence and Funeral Home Procedures Manuals.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs.
- Demonstrates active community involvement and establishes a positive profile of the Funeral Home within the community.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; verbal, written and presentation.
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills with the ability to partner will all levels of the organization.
- Exemplifies Arbor’s values of Compassion, Integrity, Trust, Teamwork, Excellence and Belonging.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Arranges the transfer of decedent to the funeral home or crematorium as required.
- Coordinates the safe transfer of the decedent from Nursing Home-Long Term Care facilities, Private Residence, Hospital, Hospice and Coroner’s Office as required.
- Works both Scheduled and On-Call shifts, regular, afterhours weekends and statutory holidays.
- Dispatches staff to assist as required; Alternate contact, Team member on-call.
- Complies with Arbor Memorial’s identification policy, and all Everyday Excellence Decedent Care standards as applicable
- Utilizes Everyday Excellence Logs and Transfer Control Sheets - Identifies Personal Belongings and documents in detail to ensure clear chain of custody is followed.
- Assists with basic preparation work such as dressing and casketing decedents.
- Drives funeral vehicles when required by the funeral home.
- Performs general building upkeep and ensures the proper maintenance of funeral service vehicles including washing, interior care, sanitization and cleaning, polishing, vehicle maintenance, vehicle maintenance scheduling and service care plans.
