Student Connect Centre Recruitment Coordinator
Position Summary
Student Recruitment Services is a key contributor to Strategic Enrolment Management at Red Deer Polytechnic by promoting programs and services, providing training and resources, and by implementing strategies to meet recruitment and enrolment goals.
The Student Recruitment Coordinator collaborates with internal and external partners to execute the recruitment strategy for Red Deer Polytechnic domestic enrolment objectives. This position acts as the primary contact for high schools and organizations that provide counselling services to students and cultivates these relationships by responding to their needs. Additional responsibilities include planning and executing recruitment activities; pro-actively managing relationships with prospects, parents/guardians, schools, and community organizations to promote Red Deer Polytechnic as a premier institution, and to facilitate the progression from prospect to applicant to student.
The Student Recruitment Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the Recruitment Office by training staff, developing, and documenting procedures, and providing direct supervision of the Recruiters and Student Connect Centre Advisors. This role requires the ability to solve complex problems, make decisions and find solutions while exercising independent judgment and maintaining confidentiality. This position requires a high degree of flexibility, creativity, initiative, and collaboration.
Position Responsibilities
Recruitment and Enrolment Management Strategy
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver RDP presentations, workshops, and resources to prospective students.
- Outline event needs, plan and execute event strategy, and other recruitment events as required.
- Develop strategies to recruit and convert leads in achievement of enrolment targets and strategic enrolment goals.
- Develop online recruiting presentations and booths; maintain/modify the client relationship management system in collaboration with SCC Advisor – Training and Systems.
- Maintain a database of recruitment events including reporting on viability of events.
- Complete cost benefit analysis on recruitment events to measure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Recommend Educational Liaison Association of Alberta (ELAA) events that RDP should attend.
Student Recruitment Coordination
- Promote and market recruitment events and initiatives to students through a variety of promotional vehicles, in collaboration with appropriate staff.
- Coordinate with high schools and RDP programs to promote and support the high school and RDP collaborative programming.
- Coordinate Open House events for RDP, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Deliver campus tours to prospective and current students, as applicable.
- Develop and consistently refresh material for self-guided campus tour.
- Coordinate the delivery of organization-wide events and activities both on and off campus.
- Coordinate and deliver information sessions both on and off campus.
Client Service and Prospective Students
- Respond to inquiries made in person, by phone, email or mail in a timely manner.
- Inform Associate Registrar and Dean of Enrolment Management and Registrar of emerging issues as necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of RDP policies and procedures, contributing recommendations to policy and procedure revisions as necessary.
- Refer students to other services and resources on campus or in community as necessary.
- Collect and record prospective and current student information ensuring compliance with FOIPP and CASL requirements using Banner, Grad Tracker, and Client Relationship information systems.
Staff Leadership

Direct the day-to-day operations of assigned staff, coordinating schedules and duties for efficient and effective delivery.

Participate in the recruitment and hiring of direct reports.

Plan, organize, and coordinate formal and informal orientation and training of employees under direct supervision.

Coordinate and allocate workload, approve, monitor, and report vacation, timesheets, leave requests and other absences in conjunction with supervisor.

Projects service coverage requirements (in annual, monthly, weekly, and daily increments) and schedule staff members in alignment with budget constraints, People and Culture policies, and collective agreements

Conduct performance enhancement process in accordance with standard practice and collective agreements; escalates issues or concerns to supervisor.
Required Qualifications

Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of university in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent.

License and clean driver’s abstract
Preferred Qualifications

2 – 3 years supervisory experience

Experience in the post-secondary sector

Customer service, sales, marketing and/or promotion experience

Superior communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations (both written and verbal)

Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills

Ability to source, compile and interpret data for presentation to others

Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a high-volume work environment

Ability to work independently and collaborate with others to achieve goals and objectives
