The location in Fort Mill, (South Carolina, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Accountant. This job is full-time permanent.

Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, you will participate in the period-end accounting activities to support the accurate financial reporting consistent with Domtar’s policies and procedures and in the monthly reconciliation process.

Your challenges:

  • Prepare journal entries related to month-end cut-off procedures (e.g. sales/liability accruals).
  • Ensure proper accounting of Corporate capital expenditures and depreciation related to the different categories of the Corporate fixed assets.
  • Participate in the quarterly forecast and annual budget preparation process (Sales, SG&A, financing expenses, etc.)
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and P&L variance analysis.
  • Prepare monthly accounting reports (e.g. cost statements, sales reports, financial expenses report, etc.)
  • Provide analysis to support strategic decision making and planning.
  • Participate in any ad hoc requests; audit requests.
  • Contribute to data visualization reporting.

Your Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of technical accounting treatment and internal controls.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and relentless pursuit of accuracy.
  • Good computer skills and systems knowledge.
  • Good communicator at different levels of the organization, in both written and verbal formats.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to change in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-sufficient, proactive, results driven, detail-oriented mindset and a good team member.
  • Self-learner and eager to understand data, business processes, concepts, and technologies.

Your profile:

  • BA/BS in Accounting and combined with a minimum 3 years related experience in an accounting/finance role.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office with expert Excel capabilities, including advanced formulas, pivot tables etc.
  • Experience working in ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP).
  • CPA/CMA professional designation. (an asset)
  • Master’s in accounting or MBA. (an asset)
  • Bilingualism, French and English, both oral and written. (an asset)
