Personal Injury Tort Law Clerk – Job Posting
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our personal injury and tort law team in North York, ON. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for individuals looking to advance their legal careers while providing essential support to our lawyers and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis to support case preparation.
- Draft, proofread, and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits of documents, offers to settle, trial records, statements of claim, motion records, briefs, and motions.
- Organize and maintain client and case files, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and deadlines are met.
- Schedule and coordinate discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, and trials.
- Monitor and diarize deadlines, limitations, and project timelines.
- File court documents, manage undertakings/refusals, and coordinate document discovery processes.
- Assist lawyers during client interviews and gather pertinent information.
- Compile production summaries and document briefs.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, defense counsel, and third-party providers.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline processes and improve efficiency1.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Law (Paralegal, Law Clerk, or Legal Assistant diploma or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in tort or personal injury law (preferred).
- Proficiency in legal software (e.g., PCLaw, Primafact), Microsoft Office, and document management systems (e.g., iManage preferred).
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and teamwork.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
