Job Description

Team Lead Transload is responsible for providing daily leadership to the team, while demonstrating a strong initiative and organizational skills. Working in a customer-oriented environment, the Team Lead works to maximize efficiency and safety, while leading a team performing switching services, loading and operating either a locomotive or track mobile.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Act as the working team leader while performing regular duties; assume the role of acting supervisor when required
  • Perform daily tasks note deficiencies and assign tasks for any issues that arise
  • Prioritize incoming work as deemed by the client, work schedule and turnaround time frames; utilize good time management
  • Manage work schedules, assign daily tasks
  • Assist other crews as required
  • Conduct toolbox and close out meetings
  • Complete daily reports
  • Exert “best effort” to protect human life, human safety and company property
  • Actively participate with the team; participate in training or company initiatives as required

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor others
  • Ability to read and write general documentation; communicate effectively with all customers, team members, and levels of management
  • Basic understanding of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement in providing information to internal or external customers in a courteous and tactful manner with regard to sensitive or confidential issues
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license

Education & Experience

  • 1 – 3 years supervisory experience
  • Rail experience an asset
