About the role

The Granite Club is looking for a Director of Capital Projects (DCP), reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, who will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of all capital projects within the Club. This role requires strategic leadership, project management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of projects that enhance the Club's facilities and services. Depending on the magnitude, scale, and complexity of capital projects—whether they are replacement capital or aspirational projects—the DCP will provide focused oversight and expertise to deliver desired results. All projects must reflect and integrate the key principles of the Granite Gold Hospitality standards.

How will you create impact? Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive capital improvement plan aligned with the club's long-term goals.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of capital projects, from initiation to completion which involves developing, organizing, coordinating and delivery of capital renewal initiatives and capital projects, to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful outcome of all assigned capital initiatives in alignment with the Club’s priorities.
  • Provide leadership in the development, coordination and delivery of capital initiatives and projects that contribute to the implementation of strategic initiatives for the Club, as well as ongoing annual capital renewal.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Ensure that disruption to the Membership’s enjoyment of the Club is minimized.

Budget Oversight:

  • Responsible for ensuring capital projects are delivered within pre-approved budget and schedule parameters.
  • Develop and monitor schedules and budgets for all capital initiatives to meet predetermined scope, goals, deliverables, and desired outcomes for all capital projects and initiatives.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor direct report(s) and a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Encourage and support employee participation and commitment to divisional and organizational objectives.
  • Build and encourage employee commitment to a high level of performance in all areas of the Club, employee safety and delivery of individual goals and objectives.

Contract Management:

  • Oversees and provides leadership for the administration, management, review, and approval of all design and construction contracts.
  • Assist with the development, monitoring and recommendations for capital budgets (obligatory and aspirational) and initiate actions to operate within fiscal plans.
  • Serve as the senior project manager for Club capital improvement projects and provides regular updates to all stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in capital project management and general construction expertise.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Expertise in budget management and financial planning.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory requirements including Health and Safety compliances.
  • Experience in managing projects within a private club or luxury hospitality setting.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design and construction practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in project management software.
