As an Underwriter a typical day might include:
- Reviewing underwriting details for new and existing accounts against various binding
- authorities
- Attending marketing and insurer meetings to gain knowledge of market conditions and competitors
- Creating rate sheets in compliance with binding authorities and refers risks as needed to various markets in accordance with those authorities
- Quoting new and renewal terms to Account Executives and Account Managers
- Ensuring Axis’ policies and procedures are compliant with various binding authorities
- Reviewing and submitting monthly bordereaux for each of the binding authorities
- Investigating bordereaux discrepancies
- Issuing policy documents in compliance with various binding authorities, as required
- Adhering to department targets
- Adhering to Claims administration as per the binding authorities
- Participating in internal and external networking opportunities
- Supporting technology initiatives, optimization, and adoption
- Serving as peer review on referrals going to insurer partners
- Manages daily administration of accounts in Epic, including attaching correspondence, transacting, document issuance
- Maintains expiration and abeyance files
- Ensures all documents are accurate and files are kept in an orderly manner

Must haves:
- 3-5 years Commercial Lines experience, consistently meeting internal core competencies.
- General Insurance Salesperson Level 1 or Agent Level 2 license through the Insurance Council of British Columbia or an equivalent license in the individual’s province of residence, with the ability to obtain a British Columbia license
- Post-Secondary Degree considered an asset
- Experience using Epic broker management system an asset
You want a leg up?
- CAIB, CIP, or CRM insurance designation considered an asset
- Experience using the Epic broker management system
