About the role

This competition is to fill (1) full time, term position ending March 31, 2026 (possibility of an extension), working 75 hours biweekly.

The Technology Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible for providing level two senior service desk support, IT infrastructure design, implementation & administration, enterprise application management network administration and support services. They will encounter a wide range of technology business systems and services where they will be responsible to analyze and solve problems, provide change management and participate in or lead IT projects. In addition, they will provide senior technical expertise for a broad range of strategic integrated systems deployment within complex IT infrastructures.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, fast paced environment that supports learning and growth opportunities. They will have a chance to work with a group of highly technical professionals who prioritize staff engagement, cross training opportunities and support flexible work arrangements. Essential Qualifications

  • Experience providing IT infrastructure support and system administration such as, server management, Office 365, identity & access management, operating system and software configuration & deployment, network and data center fundamentals, cloud-based systems, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience leading and managing IT projects.
  • Experience developing strategic plans, proposals and policies to support IT activities
  • Post-secondary diploma/ degree in computer science or related field would be considered an asset. Experience working in an Education setting would be considered an asset.

Additional information

Conditions of Employment:

  • Security clearance including vulnerable sector check
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Job Requirements:

  • This position works onsite in an office environment

  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs.

  • This position may be required to travel and visit schools within Whitehorse and the communities. Travel would be infrequent: 1-2 trips per year, averaging 2-3 days.
