Hours: 35 hours per week

Join the Region of Peel as a Specialist, Project Development and play a critical role in delivering capital projects that directly serve the people of Peel — from housing and health to emergency services and beyond.

Who We Are The Capital Planning and Project Management (CPPM) Section within the Real Property Asset Management Division leads strategic planning and delivery of facility capital projects across the Region. Our work spans everything from state-of-good-repair upgrades to major new builds, ensuring that Peel’s infrastructure meets the needs of today — and tomorrow.

Our Team Provides Asset And Project Management Services For

  • Regional office complexes
  • Paramedic and emergency service facilities
  • Long-Term Care and Affordable Housing
  • Shelters, Public Works sites, PAMA, and more

We partner with internal stakeholders and the Corporate Asset Management (CAM) team to deliver data-driven, forward-thinking capital projects that enhance the quality of life across Peel.

What You’ll Do Reporting to the Program Manager, Building Information Management, the Project Development Specialist plays an important role in delivering capital construction and SOGR (State of Good Repair) projects throughout the Region.

You’ll provide hands-on support from planning to execution — reviewing technical designs, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget. This position works closely with project managers, facility managers, engineers, contractors, and consultants to ensure success.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Assisting with scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and project coordination
  • Reviewing and interpreting architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings
  • Conducting site inspections during construction and warranty phases
  • Supporting procurement and contract development
  • Drafting meeting minutes, updating schedules, and preparing project documentation
  • Gathering data to support capital planning and asset condition assessments

What You Bring

  • A university degree or diploma in construction, engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in SOGR or new build construction
  • Experience with project development, construction planning, and contract administration
  • Familiarity with permitting, development approvals, and land use processes
  • A valid Class G driver’s license and daily access to a reliable vehicle
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work

Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of construction standards (ASHRAE, CSA, ASTM) and contracts (OAA, CCDC)
  • Understanding of the Ontario Building Code, Fire Code, OHSA, and Construction Lien Act
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, Excel, and SharePoint

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected along with occasional travel to attend site inspections or meetings at Regional facilities or as operational needs evolve.
