What's the Job About? We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to ensure the integrity and safety of our mechanical systems across COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage terminals and pipeline systems. This is a critical hands-on role that supports the safe operation and reliability of our infrastructure, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and responding effectively to breakdowns and emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and inspect mechanical systems to achieve plant availability targets and ensure compliance with safety regulations (DSEAR, ATEX, PSSR).
  • Lead and manage a tracking system for maintenance and inspections across allocated sites.
  • Conduct and supervise maintenance and repairs on high-pressure equipment (e.g. pumps, tanks, metering, actuation systems).
  • Perform limited EC&I fault-finding within competency limits.
  • Act as Operating Authority, overseeing safe systems of work, including risk assessments, isolations, and permits.
  • Support engineering projects, ensuring operational and safety standards are met.
  • Use the maintenance system to manage plant records and supervise work near critical infrastructure.
  • Provide emergency operational support, liaising with emergency services and authorities.
  • Source suppliers, manage procurement for maintenance needs, and engage in training and company working groups.

What Do We Need From You.

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical discipline OR significant demonstrable mechanical experience.
  • Practical understanding of Health & Safety in industrial environments.
  • Experience in fault analysis, maintenance, and emergency response.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and outside of regular hours when required.

Desirable

  • Completed indentured mechanical apprenticeship.
  • Previous experience in hazardous process industries (COMAH sites preferred).

Salary Basic salary of £32,000 - £36,000 + benefits + company van
