About the role

The Peel District School Board (PDSB) is a racially, culturally and linguistically diverse board that serves approximately 148,000 students and approximately 17,000+ employees. In PDSB, 87% of students are racialized, non-white, representing 162 different ethnic backgrounds. Students in Peel have 121 different first languages. Student diversity also exists in terms of gender and gender expression, sexuality and in terms of ability and faith. A responsive and empathetic understanding of the lived experiences of the students and communities we serve is vital to those who will take on leadership roles within the PDSB. The workforce consists of teachers, office staff, custodial staff, education assistants and professional staff. Job Summary

The Maintenance Services Department of the Peel District School Board is planning to create a database for HVAC Systems for all PDSB facilities. The Summer Student will perform site surveys pertaining to mechanical equipment and review site drawings and documentation. Assist with TSSA Back Flow Prevention program and verify Certificates of Inspection for all Board facilities, will also assist with Equipment Audit via site visits and data logging of existing equipment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read construction documents (drawings, specifications, documents)
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems
  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel, Adobe, Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Microsoft Teams
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work both as a team member and independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of data
  • Demonstrated commitment to work in a diverse school community and/or work environment
  • Car and valid Ontario driving license an asset.

Additional Notes

We are currently seeking qualified student applications for the 2025 Summer Experience Program funded through the Ministry of Education to work in the Facilities and Environmental Support Services of Peel District School Board. This project-based initiative employs youth aged 17 to 24.

The work experience will be in an office setting and site visitations working up to August 22, 2025, seven (7) hours per day.
